The Mission Continues…

For our final day in Brazil, Pastor Dirceu came to Casa de Jesus in Heliopolis to impart to our combined team of translators, youth leaders, and FMI missionaries. He spoke passionately about what it looks like to demonstrate the mark of Jesus, and how generosity is what breaks the stronghold of poverty. He shared testimonies of the children giving up what little they had, and the Lord pouring out abundant blessings on them. One young girl, Haylla, and her family did not have any food to eat, so she went on a walk and prayed to God. She soon found 2 Real on the ground, enough to buy 3 small loaves of bread. She bought the bread but on her way home she came across a family that she felt needed it more than her family did, so she gave them away. As she continued home with an empty stomach but a full heart, someone stopped her and gave her a bag filled with multiple loaves of bread and butter. Hearing this was a poignant reminder to all of us that God loves a cheerful giver and that He always provides for His children. After exchanging tearful goodbyes with all of our new friends, the team headed to the airport for the journey home. We take comfort knowing that though we are leaving, those that we have partnered with will continue giving their time and their love to the people here, faithfully watering the seeds we have sown, so that we will see even more good fruit when we return next year! Chao Brazil!
