Mozambique
… in the city garbage dumps, and in very remote and impoverished areas. FMI also partners with Pastor Jose Novela of Iris Global in the Linha da Frente project and Sunshine Iris Soccer Academy, which aim to bring transformation to Mozambique through micro-enterprise and youth development opportunities.
Frontline has worked with Iris ministries since 2003, serving in children’s centers which care for children from some of the most desperate situations. FMI has sent teams of missionaries to work with children in children’s centers, on the streets, in the city dump (bocarria). Attending to the children’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, these teams have a passion for caring for and loving those who have been abused and abandoned.
We are also involved in a partnership called the Linha de Frente project started by Pastor Jose Novela of Iris Global. The vision of this project is to bring transformation to the region through micro enterprise opportunities and youth development. The initiative is to teach at-risk youth practical life skills and trades so they do not have to live on the streets, and will have a vocation in the future.
Pastor Jose has also established Sunshine Iris Soccer Academy (SISA). He has begun construction on a sports training facility, which will include dormitories, a stadium and athletic center. Children from the streets will be educated and trained up in a Christian environment, providing them with a skill and trade. Frontline is partnering in these initiatives to see at-risk youth live as over-comers.
