Gift of Christmas 2006
We love to celebrate the Lord’s goodness throughout the year, and especially during the season of His birth! We want everyone to have the opportunity to share in this joy! Our desire is the same as the master in the parable who, after preparing a feast, commanded his servant to “Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled†(Luke 14:23). Our vision is to see His house filled with worshippers. One of the steps we are taking toward this goal is our annual Gift of Christmas outreach.
The Gift of Christmas is a local outreach designed to bless spiritually, emotionally, and financially needy individuals and families from Massillon and Canton, Ohio. We have opened this outreach to the residents of the Canton YMCA and YWCA, and a community services agency in Massillon. The YMCA currently houses around 99 single males, and the YWCA about 43 women and 23 children. Through our practical love and support, we desire to demonstrate to these residents the love of their Heavenly Father and their value in His eyes.
On Sunday, December 17th, participants will be picked up by the FMI ministry bus and driven to Wal-Mart and K-Mart to shop for Christmas gifts and/or individual needs. Made possible by local business donations, this opportunity is a major blessing for some who have no other way to give gifts during the Christmas season. Volunteers also help to make this time special as they assist the participants in shopping, with the goal of building relationships and sharing the Father’s love. Afterward, the participants will return to Frontline Worship Center where they will be able to pick out additional clothes and gifts from our donation room. Everyone will have an opportunity to wrap their presents before being served a family style dinner. The day will end with a special Christmas program which includes dance, drama, and the gift of Christmas message, the hope offered by Jesus Christ. May many respond to the invitation of the Master!
