As the skyline of Maputo faded on the horizon, we started our journey into the great African bush. Our first stop was Pastor Fernando’s church and Esperanza de Deus (“the Hope of God”) Children’s Home located in Maluana. This modest compound took all 21 of us in as part of their family. In the evening, we set up a crusade on the patio of an abandoned bar and were able to stir the hearts of children and adults from the local villages through dance and drama. At least 30 people prayed to receive Jesus and 11 reported healing. As the last member of our team loaded the bus, it started to rain. God was washing the land clean in more than one way tonight.
